The three golf courses attract many International tournaments and the tennis centre has been appointed as the LTA's winter training facility. An International soccer training facility with eight pitches is frequently used by Europe's leading clubs and national teams. La Manga Club is renowned as one of the world's finest all-round sports resorts. As well as offering an excellent training and tournament venue for professional football clubs in Europe, there are also football academies for youngsters as well as academies for rugby, cricket, dance and karate. La Manga is perhaps still best known, however, for its golf and tennis facilities. Three beautiful 18-hole championship golf courses and 28 tennis courts along with golf and tennis academies - perfect. The new state of the art Raquets Centre is moments away offering a gym, day classes, tennis, padel tennis, along with coffee shop and bar area.
La Manga Club Golf La Manga Club has 3 18-hole courses. The South Course is championship standard. The North course is more undulating, with superb views. The West course is completely different in character; narrow fairways, frequent 'barrancas' (ravines) and quite technical. Local area Cartagena, 20 minutes from La Manga, the first settlement founded in the natural harbour of Cartagena was constructed in 223 BC by the Carthaginians, who called it Quart Hadas (New City). After conquering the city in 209 BC the Romans called it Carthago Nova (New Carthage) Although the city declined in importance in the middle ages, its prestige increased in the 18th century when it became a major naval base. Now a busy city with a wealth of museums, restaurants great shops.Lorca sits in the south-west of the region of Murcia and is a town of a variety of contrasts. The town blends it's historical heritage with modern life. Lorca is also an important commercial centre and is probably the most important tourist centre in the region. It has mountains to a height of 1.500m in the north-west and an 8km coastline. Mar Menor The Mar Menor is the largest salt water lake in Europe. It is separated from the Mediterranean Sea by the La Manga Strip which has more than 40km of beaches.
LOCAL ATTRACTIONS Local Markets All of the local surrounding villages near to La Manga Club have a weekly market. They are all on different days of the week and our on site management staff can assist you with current information/days for each village. By far the largest and most popular is the Sunday market at Cabo de Palos. Cabo de Palos is approximately a 10 minute drive from La Manga Club and has ample parking surrounding the Cabo de Palos market. A taxi from La Manga Club will be in the region of 10 Euros each way. There is a taxi rank just outside the Cabo de Palos market for your return journey should you not wish to commit to a pick up time with your driver. Cabo de Palos market opens early at approximately 8.00 am and closes at approximately 3 pm, perhaps a little earlier in the winter. There are in excess of 100 stalls selling fruit, vegetables, clothes, shoes, bags, home wares and by mid morning is it buzzing.
